Itinerary

Day 01Colombo Airport – Kitulgala

On arrival, you’ll be received by a member of our local team or an appointed driver, who will take care of your transfer and check informality at the hotel in Kitulgala.

Rest of the day to take rest and recover from Jet lag. But If you are excited about your tour, you can explore this small town in the west of Sri Lanka. The broadest river Kelani flowing through Kitulgala was the primary location of the Oscar-winning movie of David Lean, ‘The Bridge over the River Kwai’ (1957) filmed. This place is also trendy for white water rafting.

You can take a scenic ride for about 5 km, with clear views of the western edge of mountain ranges to reach Belilena Cave. Here you will get a chance of a lifetime behind and under the waterfall cascading from above the cave [June till September]. Evidence of prehistoric

human presence as early as 30,000 years ago was recorded at the site. Later return to your hotel for dinner & overnight stay.

stretch is about 4 km long, and the rapids vary from Grade 3 to 5 depending on rainfall. It will be a thrilling rafting experience for both the beginner and the expert. This place has a good range of bird species.

Later you can enjoy trekking in Makandawa Forest Reserve. It’s a well-maintained trail, and the paths wind up and down through the forest.  This  place  has  a  good  range  of  bird  species. Later you can enjoy the canyoning activity. It’s amusing. Post lunch, you shall return to your hotel. The rest of the day will be at leisure. Overnight stay in Kitulgala.

Day 03Kitulgala – Horton Plains National Park - Ohiya

After an early breakfast, we do check out & start our journey to Heaven on Earth.

Horton plains are on a high windswept saddle at about 2134 meters above ocean level. The tables are an expanse of misty grassland with scraggy trees and ice-cold rivulets. Visit the World’s End is considered to be the best view altogether of Sri Lanka. The awesome cliff drops vertically for about 4,000 feet, hence its name.

You’ll also see the gorgeous Backer’s falls. The park shelters mammals like Sāmbhar, Leopard, and endemic Bear Monkeys. This area is the home for over 20 endemic bird species, including Sri Lanka’s Whistling Thrush, Orange-billed Babbler, and Yellow-eared Bulbul.

The trail is clear up to the “Little World’s End” walking through the woodland from the entrance gate. The one-way walk is around 45 – 60 minutes (4 km ow) till the more significant drop of the world’s end. And if you wish to do a complete circuit with Baker’s Falls, it will be a further 750 m. On a clear weather day, the view from this view point is just incredible.

Later we start our drive for Ohiya – a rural village and one of the most scenic places of Sri Lanka. Before arriving at our night halt hotel, we visit the vantage point called Ohiya Gap/Dondra Watch. This vantage point looks out over the fantastic Haputale valley and the Dondra Head Lighthouse, occasionally visible. On a perfect clear day, the view from the Ohiya Gap/Dondra Watch extends up to the southern coast of Sri Lanka.

On arrival in Ohiya, we check into our hotel. The rest of the is for enjoying the serene surroundings. Overnight stay in Ohiya.

Day 05Ohiya – Udaweriya - Bambarakanda – Beragala

Rise and shine in the early hours. After an early breakfast (or carry a picnic breakfast), you start your memorable trekking for Bambarakanda falls via Devil’s staircase. This trek is about 12-13 Kms and has spectacular scenery, tiny villages, small schools, Rolling plains, tea estates, vegetable patches, and the view of blue sky with the blue mountains at a distance. You will carry this heavenly feeling back home. Parting small gifts to school students and participating in tea leaves plucking along with tea garden ladies can be a memorable experience. You come across the way of “devil’s Staircase,” which creates an adrenaline rush. This path has three adventurous hairpin bends, but there is a beautiful surprise at the end of this path. You get to see the fantastic scenery of the Tea Garden estate.

After you go down inside the forest, you reach “Lanka Ella Waterfalls”. Very few travelers visit this beautiful waterfall, so normally you feel this place like a private place. Here you can enjoy swimming and bathing thoroughly. And this place can be excellent for relaxation.

Later we start our trek to the fascinating “Bambarakanda Waterfall.” We head to the base of the falls to enjoy the view of the water falling from 863 ft. It’s a breathtaking view.

Our memorable trek ends here. You shall drive to Beragala for an overnight stay. On arrival, check into the hotel. Overnight stay in Beragala.
